2019

ROOMS

Foyer, Stairway and Landing, Kitchen, Living Room, Hallways

SCOPE

Paint (walls, trim, ceiling, center island (not perimeter cabinets), Countertops, Backsplash, Sink, Plumbing fixtures, Fireplace Mantel and Hearthstone, Decorative Lighting, Living Room Millwork, Window Treatments, Decorative Furnishings, Replacing the spindles for the staircase, Stair runner, and refinishing the floors with a white wash to tone down the orange tones.

OBJECTIVE

This spec house had architectural details that we wanted to address due to discrepancies in proportion, scale and aesthetics. To solve these issues, we used color drenching to minimize attention by painting the walls, ceiling, and all trim in Benjamin Moore White Dove as the client wanted a soft white, minimal aesthetic without bleeding too modern. 3x12 white subway tiles from Ann Sacks were employed for the backsplash paired with quartz countertops and Waterworks fixtures. The Living Room millwork was removed, and a new marble mantel was designed by LAVA, as well as new millwork for shelving and concealed storage that flanked the fireplace.

SCOPE

Paint (walls, trim, ceiling), Decorative Lighting, Window Treatments, Decorative Furnishings, Plumbing Fixtures

OBJECTIVE

This secondary home in the Catskills prioritized both a fast timeline, as well as the most cost efficient financial investment for both design services and product costs. We achieved this by creating furniture plans and an itemized budget, which the client signed off on, for LAVA to then select all product without approval by the client. The general aesthetic direction of each room was also approved prior to LAVA sourcing all items independently, and all product was either vintage or antique, with only a few retail items to fill in spaces. The product was sourced from multiple countries, and was in good condition with some scuffs and patina (not new, nor pristine) and original upholstery in decent condition (with some wear) allowed us to meet our fastest timeline of 11 weeks from project start to product ready for installation.

We color drenched every room in Farrow & Ball Dead Flat finish to conceal imperfections as well as poor proportions and architectural issues. The contractor’s site labor extended the project by 12 additional weeks and we are currently finalizing this project’s install.

Below are phone photos as we are wrapping up installation before professional photography.
