In 2015, Meg Lavalette launched LAVA | interiors, a high end residential interior design firm, from her New York City apartment after studying at Parsons School of Design and working for several AD100 interior design and architecture firms before opening her own.

The ethos of the design studio is to produce personalized spaces that are reflective of the people who inhabit them. Meg achieves this through a proprietary process that’s been developed over fifteen years of experience, which empowers clients to select the initial materials at the project kick-off meeting in our design studio, thus laying the foundation for an aesthetic that is deeply personal and customized to the client’s individual style.

Our design studio is in the heart of Manhattan and accepts a select number of projects, as Meg fully immerses herself to develop bespoke interiors for each unique client. An emphasis is placed on quality craftmanship, authentic materials, and one of a kind pieces to tell a unique story when skillfully combined. The full-service firm takes projects from conception through completion by overseeing all phases of the process including renovation, decoration, and project management.

LAVA has blossomed into a lifestyle over the past several years, with offshoots stretching into the Catskills of upstate New York. The shop, LAVA | atelier, opened Summer 2022 and is a seasonal storefront in the 19th century brick Italianate structure Meg is restoring on Main Street in the charming historic village of Franklin.

Directly above the shop is LAVA | loft, which opened Fall 2022, and is a shoppable accommodation where visitors can reserve the entire two bedroom loft on airbnb, as well as purchase any of the furnishings or decorative items used throughout the space.
